Welcome to Life Beyond Kids!
I am so happy to have you here.
Take a few minutes to read and learn a bit more about me and the blog.
Hi, I’m Laura!
For over 10 years I have been the owner and primary author of Day by Day in Our World, a place where I share our family’s adventures through life along with a huge dollop of homeschooling posts.
My husband and I celebrated our 24th anniversary this summer and we have four boys that keep me busy and occasionally questioning my sanity. We’ve were in Alaska since January 3, 2010 and we love it way more than I thought possible. I would swear under oath that the air is cleaner and the sky larger than anywhere I previously lived (which was mostly east of the Mississippi River.) For a while, we split our time between Alaska and the Denver, Colorado area. Now we are setting down roots in the deep south…Mississippi.
I have a heart for ministry and have done so in a variety of ways over the years such as La Leche League,VBAC support groups, music & youth ministry programs, and homeschooling groups. I also have a heart for my family which is played out through my vocations as wife and mother.
Yet, I have come to realize that I am MORE than a mom. Once my eldest son began college, I started thinking more about what meaning my life has beyond my legacy as a mom to 4 boys. While that legacy is important, I also recognize that I need to both find and embrace who I am at the core rather than being defined by only my vocations in life.
I enjoy reading a good book, listening or actively participating in music, traveling and learning new skills such as photography. I also have been embracing my inner fashionista and like to share what I’ve put together for other women who might have passed a certain milestone birthday.
If you want to reach me for any reason, please send an email to email@example.com. Indicate that you are interested in Life Beyond Kids in your message, please.
Posts You’ll Find Here on Life Beyond Kids
My vision for this site is to cover lifestyle interests of women which fall outside of our role as a mother. This will include:
Style (beauty, fashion, and our homes)
Taking care of ourselves (health, fitness, food/nutrition and relationships)
Ways we spend our time (e.g. entertainment, hobbies, travel, and work.)
Here are some of the posts already on the site and representative of the posts to come.
