This review of The Tacos and Chocolate Diet: How to Live A Bold, Adventurous, And Intentional Life was made possible with an advance reader copy from the author. All opinions are my own and affiliate links may be present.

Many of us, myself included, have probably done a lot of diets in our lives.
Thankfully, I have now embraced a path where I look at food for the nourishment it can provide.
Although, there are some comfort foods that I have to keep in check.

Rather, I have found that entering midlife has shifted my perspective on things.
And a big part of that is to live more intentionally instead of waiting for ‘someday' to arrive.

That desire to live life more intentionally was a driving force for my reviewing this particular title.
Plus, I will admit to being curious what was up with tacos and chocolate ~ 2 food items I do enjoy.

My Thoughts on The Tacos and Chocolate Diet

As the summary above says, this is NOT a diet book in the sense of what to eat and what to not eat.

Rather, it is more about living your best life rather than just staying in that rut many of us are in.

He does talk about giving up some things like gluten (which I have as well because of Hashimoto's) can make an impact on your life. And, for me, breaking up with gluten was one of the hardest yet best things I did.

But, the overarching theme is finding what you give up or add to your life that allows you to live boldly. Or, more importantly, to live in such a way that you leave a legacy you want to leave.

One of the things the author mentioned that I particularly liked was his idea of a Life List. It is like a bucket list, but these are things that you want to do in the near future. Not ‘someday.' But, rather setting a day and doing it.

While I read through the whole thing, Drew does tell people upfront that the first half of the book is HIS story. If you don't want to do that deep dive into what events forged him, then you can skip ahead to the second half.

That second half goes into 10 lessons that worked for him to get the emphasis for emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being.

Then the final bit has full blog posts he mentions during the main book.

Was anything he said earth-shattering to me?
No.
And that is something he says towards the beginning as well.

Rather, this is book is his take on different things that others have said before, neatly wrapped up with his own flair.
