Whether it be an overnight camping trip with friends, a weekend getaway to explore somewhere new, or taking some extra vacation days for that out-of-state beach vacation you've been dreaming of – travel has many benefits worth exploring. Keep reading for 10 reasons why adding more travel into your life can help bring excitement back into the everyday!

It can be easy to find yourself stuck in a rut and feeling unhappy with life.

It can seem like there will never be something new to experience or look forward to seeing.

When this happens, I often consider all the reasons to travel.

Then, I start planning a new adventure.

Chloe's uncle recently passed away, leaving her with a small inheritance. In an effort to honor his memory and lift her spirits, Chloe decided to use the money to do something that would make her happy.

A dear friend of hers suggested that she should use the funds to start traveling and explore the world. “You deserve to see all the beautiful places you've always dreamed of visiting,” her friend said. “Why not use this opportunity to kickstart your travel adventures?” It was a wonderful idea and Chloe felt grateful for the suggestion.

Whether you simply take a day trip to another town or travel halfway around the world to another continent, traveling can have amazing benefits that can affect every area of your life.

10 Reasons To Travel Beyond for Business

Are you feeling stuck in a rut? Are your days starting to feel the same and like they are all blending together? Maybe it's time to take a break from routine and add more travel into your life.

By no means is this an exhaustive list.

However, after you read through these 10 reasons, there is a good chance you'll be ready to book a trip.

Unlock the Healing Power of Traveling

Chloe decided to go on a journey, following in her uncle's footsteps.

Her dad was never really there for her, but her uncle had always been a guiding light in her life.

He used to talk about going back to his hometown and reconnecting with his family, but his ill health made it impossible.

During her travels, Chloe had the chance to meet some of her uncle's old friends and make peace with his passing.

Although it couldn't heal the pain in her heart, she found comfort in realizing just how much her uncle was adored during his time on earth.

Although you may not be grieving the loss of a loved one, travel can be a good way to work through difficult emotions. It gives you space to examine your feelings without the distractions of everyday life around you.

Discover Your True Self by Traveling

Michelle recently went on a women-only hiking adventure for three days and had a ton of time to reflect on her relationship.

She came to the realization that her values and her boyfriend's values were just not aligned and they were headed in different directions.

After much thought and consideration, she decided to end things and move forward with her own path. It's always tough to make big decisions, but sometimes it's for the best!

With today’s hectic pace creating so much noise in your life, it’s easy to ignore your own inner voice. You know what the right thing to do is, but you can’t hear yourself because you’re too overwhelmed.

That’s where travel can be helpful. With a more relaxed pace, it’s easier to get clear on what you want and need.

Spark New Ideas by Traveling

It’s easy to become stuck in your routine.

You drive the same way to work.

You eat at the same restaurants, shop at the same stores, and see the same people.

But traveling forces you out of your typical routine.

You see new places.

You eat new foods at different locations.

You encounter different stores and meet new people.

All of this novelty has a benefit. Besides being entertaining, it can also spark new ideas.

The inspiration of doing new things or doing the same things in new ways can lead to a barrage of insights you wouldn’t have found any other way.

Build Resilience through Traveling

Sadly, not every trip will be amazing.

You may be on a flight that encounters severe turbulence. You may get your luggage stolen or lose your phone.

Experiences like these—while difficult—can also be catalysts for more growth.

As you learn to navigate challenges on the road, you also develop your own inner resilience.

You learn how to take stock of a bad situation, make an action plan, and set things in motion to right your world again.

Embrace the Unexpected: Learn to Be Flexible through Traveling

Despite your best intentions, plans do change when you’re traveling. Maybe your flight was canceled due to poor weather conditions. Perhaps you found a beautiful little town that you want to detour to and explore for a few hours.

Traveling can teach you to anticipate delays and detours while becoming more flexible.

With the right attitude, you can even turn what seemed like a terrible moment—getting stuck on the tarmac for two hours—into an enjoyable chance to get to know your seatmate.

Embrace New People and Cultures Through Travel

Looking at the world through different eyes is a gift that not everyone gets to experience. When you travel, you have the opportunity to see life from another’s viewpoint. Perhaps it’s the taxi driver who tells you his favorite things about the city or the tour guide who introduces you to an unexpected gem.

Getting to connect with new people is one of the best parts of traveling. You never know where or when you might just discover your next friend!

Traveling Encourages Tolerance

It’s easy to be frightened of different cultures and religions if you’ve only experienced one way of living in your life. But traveling gives you the chance to step outside of your normal outlook.

Traveling often brings about the realization that we’re all the same. Whether you travel to the Midwest for a business conference or halfway around the globe to help hungry children in a war-torn country, you’ll discover that humanity really is just one big family.

Boost Self-Confidence through Traveling

Tiffany had been a loyal travel companion to her husband and teenage kids.

She cherished the moments spent with her family and felt secure knowing that her loving partner was always by her side in case of any troubles.

One day, Tiffany received an invitation from a friend to go off-roading. Despite being hesitant at first, she decided to give it a shot.

When they encountered a flat tire, Tiffany and her friend were able to work together and solve the problem by themselves.

This experience filled Tiffany with newfound confidence and a renewed perspective on her abilities. She realized that she was capable of handling unexpected situations and felt proud of what she had accomplished.

Traveling builds up your self-esteem and causes you to re-evaluate who you are. You may notice things about your personality and your gifts that you hadn’t recognized before your trip.

My own solo travel began when attending conferences. However, it wasn't until I was looking to mark Idaho off my bucket list that I took a solo trip with no one I knew waiting on the other end.

Enhance Well-Being: How Travel Can Improve Your Health

Studies have shown that traveling has many wonderful health benefits for both men and women.

It lowers your risk of heart disease and heart attack. And, it can also reduce your stress level, resulting in less anxiety.

Perhaps even more encouraging, traveling can also reduce depression rates. Women who travel twice a year are less likely to experience chronic depression (source). This means that traveling isn’t just good for your body—it’s good for your mind, too!

Experience Renewal through Traveling

Crystal had been part of the IT department for years and was passionate about her job. However, even on weekends, she had to be on-call for potential tech emergencies, which didn't leave her with much down-time.

But, her amazing fiancé surprised her with tickets to Hawaii! Crystal decided to take a break from work totally and leave her laptop behind.

She made sure she was off the schedule for two weeks so she could be present and enjoy her vacation to the fullest.

Upon her return to work, Crystal was thrilled to realize how great she felt! It was then that she made a commitment to herself to take regular vacations, no matter what. Cheers to that!

Travel isn’t just fun—it can also be renewing!

If you suffer from workaholic tendencies, you may need to institute some strict policies to ensure you truly step back from your responsibilities. This might mean leaving your laptop behind or even keeping your phone turned off during your trip (except for the occasional selfie).

It’s easy to put off travel thinking it has to be expensive or time-consuming. But that’s not the case at all.

Even spending a day exploring a neighboring town can be enough to reap many of the benefits on the list above!

If you inherited enough money to take an extended vacation, where would you go and what would you do?
